Dear Friends,
It seems such a long time since we last sent out an
ebulletin that you must be thinking that our technology has
collapsed. Not so !! However a computer crash in November
and the subsequent loss of my address book which has taken
some time to reconstruct also hindered communication.
As you will no doubt remember events in 2006 led to a
difficult situation with ongoing litigation which still has
to be concluded. We ask to remember us in prayer as these
matters continue.
The sad death in January of our Principle Teacher of Science
, Mr Hugo Mancha, at the age of 39 years due to illness,
caused additional distress, and we ask that his family, his
wife and three young children, be held before the Throne of
Grace continually.
We are glad to be able to inform that in spite of all the
prior difficulties the school year 2007 has got off to a
good start, with almost the same number of pupils
matriculating as had finished in 2006, 471. This was an
unexpected blessing and allows us to breathe more easily in
financial matters. We expect this to increase slightly as
children come into Kindergarden at different points in the
year. This is the first time in a number of years that pupil
numbers have not dropped significantly.
We were glad to have Mr Jonathan Innes from the Free Church
Offices here in February overseeing the school finances and
giving welcome suggestions as to how things could be
improved. We look forward to the visit of the Free Church
Mission Board Delegates in April and hope that they will
provide us with constructive advice on things that can be
improved academically. Sometimes, we can't see the wood for
the trees, and a fresh look can be very helpful.
We give thanks that Rev Tim and Marjorie Donachie have
returned refreshed from their time in Scotland, and for the
arrival of Mary Louise Stone ( known to some Free Church
families) as a volunteer to assist in the English Department.
She will be with us until August.(see below)
We had good news on exam results also; almost all our
graduates 2006 have now gained University places, and the 17
pupils who sat the Cambridge FCE all passed. This is the
first time we have had such a sucessful pass rate.
We look forward to hearing from you and thank you for your
prayers and support.
